Silt Fence & Sediment Barriers
The first line of defense on any disturbed site. We install silt fence along downhill perimeters, around storm drains, and adjacent to waterways before any clearing or grading begins. Our installations follow NCDENR standards with proper trench depth, stake spacing, and fabric overlap to actually stop sediment—not just check a box.
Hydroseeding
The fastest way to establish vegetation on disturbed soil. Our hydroseeding mix combines appropriate seed varieties for WNC's climate, tackifier to hold the mix in place, fertilizer for fast germination, and wood fiber mulch for moisture retention. Most sites show green coverage within 14-21 days—critical for meeting temporary stabilization deadlines.
French Drains & Subsurface Drainage
When surface water management isn't enough, French drains intercept subsurface water before it causes problems. We install perforated pipe systems with proper gravel backfill and filter fabric, directing groundwater away from foundations, retaining walls, and saturated slopes. Essential in WNC where perched water tables and springs are common.
Retaining Walls
Steep slopes sometimes need structural solutions. We build retaining walls using segmental block, timber, or boulder systems depending on the application and aesthetic. Proper drainage behind the wall (gravel backfill + weep holes) is the difference between a wall that lasts decades and one that fails in 5 years.
NC DEQ Compliance
We prepare and implement erosion and sediment control plans that meet NPDES, DEMLR, and local requirements. This includes: pre-construction measures, construction-phase BMPs (best management practices), regular inspection and maintenance, and post-construction permanent stabilization. Our plans pass inspection because we design them to actually control erosion, not just satisfy paperwork.
